Here’s my story
In 2005 I sat down at my kitchen table and added them up.
I passed one hundred, then two hundred. Then three.
Finally, the counting was done. 342.
I had 342.
I double-checked my math thinking, It can’t be that many. That’s hundreds. If it were dollars in the bank, it wouldn’t feel like much. But since it was irritations, frustrations, and friction, it was a lot.
For months I’d been reading about these things called tolerations. I’d finally sat down to see how many I had.
And a light went off. This is what’s wrong. THIS is what’s in the way. This gunk. These tolerations.
342 barriers to happiness. 342 obstacles to satisfaction and contentment. 342 reasons I didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin and at peace in my mind. 342 impediments to my creativity and success.
342 energy drains, day in and day out, taking a toll.
Of course, I already knew about the toll. I was overwhelmed. Impatient. Stressed. I always felt behind.
Like I couldn’t keep up with everything.
I was so busy and overwhelmed with the business of life that I wasn’t really living my life. Not fully anyway. Not focused on what really mattered.
